Polar bears are unique in the animal world because of their strange ageing process. In the first 30 days, a polar bear cub transforms from a hairless and sightless meatball into a furry and fully attentive mammal. However, after this first 30 days, the ageing process of the polar bear slows down and it takes many years before it reaches full maturity. Anthropologists are unsure of why polar bears have such an awkward ageing process, but they hope to replicate and then reverse this process in order to bring a fully mature polar bear back to infancy. This would effectively allow a polar bear to live forever and could be the key to immortality.
